Internships

Global Economic Research Consulting (GERC) offers part-time internships for students and recent graduates who want real-world experience in economics, government contracting, grants and business consulting. You will work on live projects for businesses, public agencies and nonprofits alongside the GERC team, led by Dr. Shirley Ayangbah.

Internship roles

Research and consulting

  • Economic Research Intern: literature reviews, economic data analysis, policy briefs, white papers, and charts and tables.
  • Market Research & Data Analytics Intern: market and competitor research, feasibility studies, dashboards and client presentations.
  • Government Contracting Intern: SAM.gov and vendor registrations, procurement research and tracking contract opportunities.
  • Proposal Development & Grant Writing Intern: grant research, proposal writing and editing, and keeping proposal calendars on track.

Business growth

  • Business Development Intern: researching prospective clients and partners, outreach by email and LinkedIn, and CRM records.
  • Fundraising & Development Intern: funding research, corporate sponsors, donor communications and sponsorship proposals.

Marketing and operations

  • Digital Marketing Intern: SEO and keyword research, email campaigns, website analytics and Google Business Profile.
  • Social Media & Graphic Design Intern: graphics in Canva or Adobe Express, LinkedIn content, presentations and infographics.
  • Website & Technology Intern: WordPress updates, CRM setup, AI productivity tools and technical troubleshooting.
  • Administrative & Event Planning Intern: scheduling, records and files, meeting materials, and workshops and seminars.

What you will gain

  • Hands-on experience on real projects for businesses, public agencies and nonprofits.
  • Exposure to government contracting and grant funding, including federal, state and local procurement systems.
  • Practical skills with tools used in the field, from Excel and data visualization to WordPress, Canva and CRM software.
  • Direct work with a woman-led consulting firm and its founder, Dr. Shirley Ayangbah.
