Grant Management Services: Post-Award Reporting and Compliance

Winning a grant is the start of the work, not the end. GERC’s grant management services handle the reporting, budget tracking and compliance that come after the award, on a monthly retainer, so your team can run the program and keep the funder satisfied. We support nonprofits, cities, special districts, tribal governments and small businesses nationwide.

What our grant management services cover

  • Award setup: reading the award terms, building a compliance calendar and setting up budget tracking by line item
  • Financial and budget tracking: monthly spending against the approved budget, with early warnings before you overspend or underspend
  • Progress and financial reports: drafting the quarterly, annual and final reports your funder requires, on time
  • Drawdowns and reimbursement requests: preparing requests with the documentation funders expect
  • Budget modifications and no-cost extensions: preparing requests when plans change
  • Subrecipient monitoring: tracking partners who receive part of your award
  • Audit readiness: organized records for program monitoring visits and audits
  • Closeout: final reports, final drawdown and record retention

Federal grant compliance under the Uniform Guidance

Most federal awards follow the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), which sets rules for allowable costs, procurement, time and effort, and reporting. Organizations that spend $1 million or more in federal awards in a year generally need a Single Audit. Our grant management services keep your records aligned with these rules from the first month, so an audit or monitoring visit is routine rather than a scramble.

Why a grant management retainer pays for itself

  • Late or incomplete reports can delay reimbursements or put future funding at risk
  • Unallowable costs found in an audit may have to be paid back
  • Funders renew grantees who report well and spend on plan
  • A retainer costs less than a full-time grants manager, and you get experienced staff from day one

Grant management services FAQ

What is the difference between grant writing and grant management?

Grant writing wins the award. Grant management is everything after: reporting, budget tracking, compliance and closeout.

Can you manage a grant another firm wrote?

Yes. We start with a review of the award and your records, then take over reporting and tracking.

Do you manage federal, state and foundation grants?

Yes. Each funder has its own terms, and we build the compliance calendar around them.

How much do grant management services cost?

Retainers start at $1,250 a month for a single award and $2,500 a month for several awards or a federal award with monthly tracking. Large federal portfolios start at $4,000 a month. We confirm a fixed fee after reviewing your award documents.

Do you work outside California?

Yes. We provide grant management services to organizations nationwide, working remotely.
