Every federal contract and grant award in the United States requires an active SAM.gov registration. There are no exceptions and no workarounds. If your entity is not registered and active, a contracting officer cannot pay you — no matter how good your bid was.
Registration is free. The government does not charge for it, and anyone telling you otherwise is running a scam. What we charge for is doing it correctly, first time, without the weeks most first-time registrants lose to rejected documentation and failed validation.
What the registration actually involves
SAM.gov registration is not a form. It is a sequence, and each stage can stop the one after it:
- Entity validation — proving your legal business name and physical address match your official formation documents, exactly. This is where most registrations stall.
- Unique Entity ID (UEI) — assigned by SAM.gov once validation clears. This replaced the DUNS number in 2022.
- Core data — legal structure, business dates, financial and banking information for electronic payment.
- Assertions — your NAICS codes, size metrics, and the goods and services you provide. These determine which opportunities you are matched against.
- Representations and certifications — the federal provisions you must answer accurately, because they are legally binding.
- Points of contact — including an entity administrator, a role with real consequences if it is assigned to someone who leaves.
Why registrations fail
The same handful of problems account for most of the delay:
- The business name does not match the Secretary of State record character for character — an abbreviation, a comma, or “LLC” versus “L.L.C.” is enough to fail it.
- The physical address does not match the formation documents, or is a PO box, which SAM.gov will not accept.
- Supporting documentation is submitted in the wrong format or is not recent enough.
- NAICS codes are chosen carelessly, so the entity never surfaces in the searches contracting officers actually run.
- Representations are answered without understanding what is being certified.
What we do
We complete the registration end to end: reviewing your formation documents before anything is submitted, resolving name and address discrepancies at the source, carrying entity validation through to approval, selecting NAICS codes based on the work you actually want, completing the representations accurately, and setting up your points of contact so the registration does not become orphaned later.
You receive the completed registration, your UEI, and a record of what was submitted. We also tell you your renewal date, because the registration expires in twelve months and lapsing is the most common way businesses lose eligibility mid-pursuit.

Do I need a DUNS number?
No. The Unique Entity ID replaced the DUNS number in April 2022 and is issued directly by SAM.gov as part of registration.
My registration expired. Is that different?

How much does SAM.gov registration cost?
Registering on SAM.gov is free. The government charges nothing, and any site telling you otherwise is charging you for something you can do yourself at no cost. Our fee is for completing it correctly and without the delays that catch most first-time registrants.
Can someone else register my business on SAM.gov?
Yes. You can authorise a third party to complete the registration on your behalf. You remain the entity administrator and keep control of the account — that is not something you should ever hand over permanently.
