These are private certifications, not government ones. NMSDC certifies Minority Business Enterprises and WBENC certifies Women's Business Enterprises, and large corporations use them to fill supplier diversity targets in their own supply chains.

Which one you need

It depends on the buyer. Public transportation agencies want DBE. Federal agencies want 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB or SDVOSB. Corporations want MBE or WBE. Paying for the wrong certification is the most common waste in this area, which is why we start with who you're selling to rather than with the form.
