No city in the country concentrates more government buying decisions than Washington, DC. Federal agency headquarters sit next to the District government’s own procurement offices, and both release solicitations year-round. For a small business, DC offers two markets in one: federal contracts and District contracts.
GERC helps DC-area businesses compete in both, with a simple difference: we do the work instead of handing you a to-do list.
Two markets, two sets of rules
Federal contracts
Federal work requires an active SAM.gov registration, the right NAICS codes, and often a socioeconomic certification such as 8(a), HUBZone or WOSB. Many DC opportunities also arrive as subcontracts from primes, which makes a sharp capability statement essential.
District of Columbia contracts
The District buys through the Office of Contracting and Procurement and other agencies, and it gives strong preference to Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs), certified through the Department of Small and Local Business Development. CBE status can open set-asides and subcontracting goals on District-funded projects.
What GERC handles for you
- SAM.gov registration, UEI validation and annual renewals
- Preparing federal certification applications and supporting your CBE application
- Capability statements tailored to agency buyers and DC primes
- Opportunity research so you pursue the bids you can actually win
- Proposal writing and RFP responses built around evaluation criteria
- GSA Schedule readiness and offer preparation
Why DC businesses choose hands-on help
DC buyers are sophisticated and competition is intense. Firms that win usually have clean registrations, the right certifications and responses that answer exactly what the agency asked. That takes time most small business owners don’t have. We take on the filings and the writing so you can focus on running your company.
How we work
- An honest first call: is government work realistic for you right now?
- We prepare and submit registrations, certifications and proposals.
- We stay with you until your registration or certification is approved, and through every bid until the award decision is in. That includes answering agency questions, handling resubmissions, renewals and compliance.
